1)Job Action/ Middle school notes:

-teachers can strike legally until bill 22 is put into effect.

-I found it interesting that people find Christy Clarks non edcucation a problem. 1) she is a figure head for a group of politicians that do have degrees.  2) Would she not appeal to the uneducated of our province?

-When I thought about all those that are educated in our province, I think it is them that feel like this shuouldn’t be.

This discussion ended up taking the entire class.  I’m really glad that Phil has opted to share what he knows about the issues at stake right now between the teachers Union and the Government.  He is the only Prof who has chosen to speak about it.  I guess this makes sense seeing he is still teaching within the BC School system.  Thank you Phil for that.

One thing that struck me was the fact that Christy Clark didn’t have a degree.  But that got me thinking.  Does someone in her position really need to have a degree?  Does she then not connect with a certain population of our province?  It’s not her that runs this province, it’s her party, who no doubt have degrees.  Personally I don’t think it matters.  If it did matter she wouldn’t be where she is now.  I know she was minister of Education once, but again I’m not 100% sure whether or not a degree is critical, or caused the problems we are dealing with today in our system.

2)Journals, thank you:  Phil I have to mention here that due to technical difficulties, my hard-drive flopped, I have lost a few journal entries.  I was able to recover the few listed here, however that is all.

3)The Guardian’s ‘3 Little Pigs’ Parody. Drama and the media:  We just barely got to view this video, so I took a looksy on Youtube.  What a great way to demonstrate the influence and use of social media for passing news.  Everyone knows the three little pigs stories so instantly people connect and are more apt to understand what is going on.

4)Theatre Sports Games

5)Stucture -Dorothy Heathcote’s ‘Mantle of the Expert’

Items 4 and 5 were unable to be attended to due to our long discussion around the Teachers action.
