-Small pod 3-2-1 activity
This is a great assessment technique.  Divide students into groups of 3.  Have each person think of 3 thinks they’d like to take away from the experience, 2 things they’d change if they ran it, 1 phrase to promote.
We were assessing our experience from our Lakewood visit.  In a round robin fashion we fired off our responses.
Book draw.  Sara won again.
Phil introduced us to Lois Burdett’s prject: young students and Shakespeare.  These books are all creations of student artwork and their interaction with the stories of Shakespeare.  These books were incredible.  What a great way to get children interested in Shakespeare, a topic that I must say I don’t really think of as fun.  In our Art class we read an article about the importance of displaying children’s art creations so other can see.  I think that these books are a great example of this aspect to Art and learning.
Warm-ups in today’s class:
-Night in the Museum:  Great warm-up.  With the lights out, one person pretends to be walking through a museum with only his/her flash light (the flash light of drama).  Everyone else is to stand still unless they are located behind the guard.  As long as they are quiet and don’t attract the attention of the guard, who could shine the light on them catching them, they could move.  This was a fun game.  It changes the mood with the lights out.
Primary Story Drama: “The Follower” -Richard Thompson
Structures used:
-Movement/Freezing
-Writing in Role
-Soundscape
-Shadwoing
-Tapping in
-Brainstorming
-Teacher in Role.
Phil put music on and read “the follower”.  He also had the entire book put onto overhead projector sheets.   He called upon an assistant to turn the pages for him on the OHP.  All at once, the OHP the music and the reading, the follower came alive.  This took good coordination.
